How much room does a dining table need? Drag one around your room
Seat people first: about 60 cm of table edge per person, then leave about 90 cm between the table and any wall on the sides where chairs pull out.
Drag a table around a plan of your own room, see how much clearance each side gets and how many places fit, and learn when it is fine to break the rule. Measure first, with tape on the floor, before you buy anything.
